Thank you to all who have posted such kind messages in memory of my dad. He was an extremely kind person, calm and collected, and often the voice of reason in our house. He was the driving force behind my strong work ethic and helped me to discover my passion for both academics and sports. My dad pushed me harder than anyone else - he was my toughest critic but always my biggest fan. To him, I was "Daughter #2" by birth order, to me he was "#1 Dad". Endearing memories I will never forget: "Bob, same frontwards as backwards", watching Latin soap operas even though he spoke no Spanish, watching sports with no sound which resulted in him never knowing how to pronounce pro athlete names, his borderline OCD pre- and post-golf shoes/tees/ball/equipment ritual, his denim overalls when cutting the grass, and his curly mullet. I find comfort knowing my dad is now in a much better place and will think of him and these fond and funny memories often. I love you, Dad!

Well, Bob, I remember the first time I met you and Lynn. A golf outing! You worked with my ex... Hal at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. From there on we were all friends... you then came into Finance and the building and people there became another part of your extended family! We employees enjoyed the benefits of your union leadership and activity. Thanks to you many of us had better opportunities and were treated fairly. Then Planning I think and then onto the Equipment Center... ya know you were sure missed at City Hall. But we all had fun outside of work... the weekend at the lake at the cottage was a blast. Can't believe you and Deanise jumped into that frigid water!!!! So many memories and stories! oh, yes and can't forget the Christmas parade with you and the girls! Man it was cold! Have some great pictures! Lynn, Anitra and Allison I am so sorry about your husband/dad's passing... he was a terrific guy... you can be so proud of him... he lived life fully and laughed at it's craziness... no matter what. Most Sincerely, Linley

I posted this photo of us on my cubicle wall to remind me of all the good people in this world. Bob was one of the funniest and kindest men I know.
Gail (Bennett) Ostrowski- "The young pretty one". That is how he often introduced me!

Harold and I remember lots of good times with Bob and Lynn while our kids entertained themselves close by. New Years Eve was especially fun when celebrated together. Bob loved to talk about his girls and it never seemed like bragging because they were amazing girls who have grown into outstanding women. He will be missed.

So sad to learn of Bob's passing. We worked together at the City for a long time. Bob was a funny guy, and while we had our differences (I was administration, Bob was Union) we always respected each other. My deepest sympathies to the family.

Lynne and Family: My heart felt condolence to all as Bob will be missed by us his Golfing friends. The pleasure was ours to play golf with both of you in golf tournaments. Always a fun person on the Golf course carrying a big smile when his opponent missed a golf putt. A true golf enthusiast!

Lynn, girls and their families; So very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. So, so many memories to look back on. Growing up together as neighbors 60 years ago truly fills my heart with such good times. We played the simple games outside all day during the summer and came in when the street lights came on. Will always remember the rules that Bob had playing the different games, and we better abide by them, lol Rest In Peace my dear neighbor, friend and classmate. Mona

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole Bennett family. Aunt Lynne and Uncle Bob were always great hosts to me and I have a ton of fond memories shared with Anitra and Allison when we were kids and more when I would swing by in a tow truck when going through Battle Creek.
I never knew Bob to not have a smile and the picture that accompanies this obit is exactly how I always remember him.
So sorry for your loss.
