Katherine Cecelia (Pesenecker) "Katie" Reese of Battle Creek, MI

Katherine, age 92, passed away Sunday evening, October 14, 2018.

Katherine was born in Detroit, Michigan to William J. and Madeline M. (Flowerday) Pesenecker. Her family relocated to Battle Creek when Katie was a small child. She continued to live in the area her entire life. She attended Lakeview and Battle Creek Schools.

On March 8, 1944 in Marshall, MI, Katie married Wendell L. Reese. They had celebrated 73 years together at the time of his passing in March of 2017. Katherine had worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a young woman, but the majority of her working career was spent at the Kellogg Company where she worked for 30 years.

Katherine is survived by her children Cynthia, Andrew and Douglas. Her grandchildren, Jason, Theodore, Elizabeth and Robert, 5 great-granddaughters and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She loved and was loved and will be greatly missed by each and everyone of us.

The family wishes to thank Boschway AFC Home for their kind, compassionate care of Katie.

Per her wishes, there will be no service and she will be entombed with her beloved husband, Wendell at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Katie was a wonderful lady. She did a lot of nice things for my childhood when a family member was married to one of her relatives.

Sad to read about the passing of Katie in the Shopper News. I worked for Katie when she was a floor lady and have many, many happy memories of her. My Aunt Dorothy Kajcienski considered Katie her best friend as they worked together many years at Kellogg's and also attended the one-room school house when they were young.
Katie shared with me her Texas sheet cake and Rainbow jello receipes. Whenever I make them. I get compliments on how wonderful they are .


After I got pregnant with my third child, I was going to quit Kellogg's but my husband got cancer and Katie and Dorothy advised me to not quit and keep my job which I did. I am forever grateful for this advice as everything worked out fine and I am now enjoying a great retirement with insurance benefits and pension.

The 50th wedding anniversary her family gave for her and Wendell was one of the best I have ever attended.

Katie was one classy lady (I always loved all the different eye glasses she wore) and she will always hold a special place in my heart.

Now, the two best friends are in heaven together . My sympathy to her family.

It is sad to hear of your mom's passing but I do know she struggled for a bit. There is great comfort in knowing that she is with your dad now.
What fun we had as kids growing up together. Your mom was a big part of that. Halbert Rd will never be the same.
