Condolence & Memory Journal

Deb and I joined St Timothy's in 1976, she as Organist and Choir Director We valued highly association with Del and Grace. I spent some years assisting him in mowing the church property. A fine gentleman who was a subtle influence of stability over the years. We left that church in 1985 and din't have much direct in the following years but kept our eyes open any references to him.

Mr. Holroyd was a very brilliant teacher when I was in his 4H classes. He taught me how to weld and brace and how to rebuild engines which I still use today on the farm. He taught us not to be afraid of tearing an engine all apart and how to properly rebuild it and make it run. I remember visiting with him about a year ago and how we had a great time talking about all the good time we had at his house. Mr. Holroyd will be missed and he was a great man.

I have known Del since I was 16 years old. Del was my 4-H leader who taught me how to the basics of welding and body work, which I have used throughout my entire life. After I graduated from high school I went a trade school and took auto body repair and welding. After doing body work for several years I made a career change and became plant engineer for a company who's primary function was assembling and welding a product. Del was very responsible in shaping me for my future at that time.
I am now 71 years old and retired. All I can say is thank you Del for all you did for me.

Such a gracious and grand gentleman. I was so fortunate and blessed to be able to call him Dad. He was such an amazing and talented man, a gentle giant, the sweetest, funniest and knowledgeable man. People of all ages respected him. A hand that was so massive and strong had such a gentle and warm heart attached. His smile and twinkling eyes said so much. Thank you for being my Dad, and giving us so many funny, and happy memories. We are lost without you but knowing you are in God's workshop makes us smile. Enjoy your friends and family where you are and we will never forget you Dad. We love you...

Delbert was a great man from what has been aptly called "The Greatest Generation. He was a very kind and generous person who had a profound influence on many lives, including my own. He was supremely talented in all things that involved problem-solving and the use of his hands to build and fix things. I was blessed to have known him for 65 of his nearly 97 years on earth. Thoughts and prayers to his family and many friends. Rest in peace, my friend and godfather, and thanks for all you have done to enrich my life and the lives of so many others.

The world just lost a great man! He taught me how to weld, to work on cars, and to work on small engines. I remembers years ago when I asked him to rebuild my old ford tractor and he said NO! But I will teach you how and work with you. He was an amazing man, neighbor, friend, and teacher. May God Bless you Del!

I knew Del all of my life. He was a close friend of my dad's all the way back to school. He will be missed for his one of a kind humor and his helpfulness to our family as we were growing up. I didn't always see him a lot in the later years but I always knew he was there. I always remember show he always fell asleep at the 4th of July get-to-gathers that we had every year, no matter how much noise we made with fireworks. You will be missed Del. Say hi to mom and dad for me.
