I only got to know Jake for a little while but from the day we met he felt like an old friend. Jake would do anything for you and he would always do it with care and a smile. One time, before we moved to Michigan, he drove his lawn tractor over to our recently purchased house to mow and make the place presentable. I still smile every time I think of him driving almost a mile through Richland on a mower...
I will really miss his presence in the world.

Since high school we had been getting together as friends and seeing the new Star Wars and catching up, for most of them, the topic of conversation was settled around nonsensical mischief, or that thing that happened on the soccer field or whatever was happening at college or the new job. I am so thankful for this last December and the major brag session we were able to have about our children. It struck me as such a funny, beautiful thing. And I am so grateful for that conversation and wonderful memory. He was so happy bragging on Marissa. My heart is broken for his family and his friends. He will be missed. Love to the family and especially his wonderful daughter.

One of the few but memorable times I saw Jake was during the Richland 4th of July parade. He was representing the Village as a Board member, riding in a convertible. He and Marissa had 3 jobs: Wave. Smile. And most importantly, throw out candy.

I was behind them, representing the Library, so I got to see this happy pair the entire parade route.

I am writing on behalf of all the Brinkerhoffs Peg and Jeff. Sending you, Marissa and your family our love from CA.

I cannot even express the sadness I feel for your entire family and especially for M. Our hearts are broken. Jake had the best smile, amazing blue eye and such a wonderful personality, he was the best coach and mentor to our daughter and she considered him her Dad also. Our entire family loved him to pieces and we love M like she is our own and will be there for anything and everything that she needs. I am so sorry for you loss he is a person who will be deeply missed.
With Love,

I was so terribly saddened to hear of Jake's passing! It definitely sparked a fond visit down memory lane...the good ole days of high school and college. Praying for your family during this undoubtably difficult time, that you would find peace in your heart, and a supernatural calm in your soul, knowing you'll all be reunited on the other side of eternity.

Jake was such a special person whom I liked so much. I'm so saddened by this band my deepest condolences to his family. Life is too short and he must have had a bigger purpose elsewhere to be taken so soon. I'll miss you Jake but will undoubtedly see your kind soul again my friend.

Jake was truly a great friend. He was always positive and willing to help with anything. I also remember how much he loved M and would go on and on about her. Jake, you have left a big impact on my life. I will never forget our fun times together, including you dropping a drill on my head in Florida and that long hike in Arizona where we both got so dehydrated. I will forever miss you buddy.
