He also loved tending to his garden and spending time with his family, friends, and dogs.

Billy married the "Love of His Life", Barbara "Barb" "Bobbie" Jo Hastings in Kalamazoo on June 29, 1974; she survives. He is also survived by his three girls, Billie Jo (Christopher Smith) Halder, Barbara (Eric Allen) Halder, and Delores Mae Halder, all of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Dillon Leighton Striplin, Logan Jean Striplin, Annie Eames, Mason James Allen, and Colton Matthew Drake; brothers & sisters, Karen Halder, Bryan (Joan) Halder, Randy Halder, Robin Halder, Tim (Liz) Sayles, and Shelly Holley; brothers-in-law, Dave Tedrow and Harris Tuttle; his close friend, Gordy Fox; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews.
