Abel Lam Za-uk, age 47, of Springfield died April 7, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 21, 1969 in Falam, Chin State, Myanmar to Helen Tial Cung and William Phu Tsi. He was the youngest of their three sons, and has a younger sister. He also has many siblings from both paternal and maternal marriage to other people.

Abel married his first wife in 1988, and together they had a daughter. He then moved to Mizoram, India for work, where he met his second wife, and they also have a daughter together. In 2011, he arrived in Battle Creek through Malaysia Refugee service, obtained employment at Denso Manufacturing and worked for Denso until his untimely death.

Abel was very handy man, loved helping fixing his friend's homes for miscellaneous stuff. He was quite good at fixing cars. Abel was also a very clean and neat person. He loved having his nieces and nephews visit him, and he loved visiting with them, and was also close to his daughter. As much as he loved fixing cars, he loved to eat! His favorite restaurant was Hibachi Buffet in Kalamazoo, sadly he did not get a chance to eat at recently opened Battle Creek location. Abel lived alone and was a quiet man, but he left behind many loved ones. He will be missed and the hole that he left behind in their lives will stay empty.
