Barbara J. "Barb" Pleyte, age 85, of Galesburg, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Barb, the daughter of John and Hattie (Kruithoff) DeYoung, was born July 17, 1931 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a 1949 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School.

Barb married Richard G. "Dick" Pleyte in Kalamazoo on February 4, 1954; he preceded her in death on December 5, 2015. Surviving are her children, Mary Jo (Stan) Barrett, of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Perry D. (Karen) Pleyte of Bliss, ID, and Becky S. (Claude) Alley of Sheridan, WY; six precious grandchildren, Clayton (Krysta) Pleyte, RaeAnne (Rick) Piccirilli, Laura (Andrew) Romines, Kyle (Ashley) Barrett, Olivia Alley, and Sarah Alley; 4 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Romines, Lilia Piccirilli, Claire Romines, Charlotte Barrett & a "baby boy" Pleyte on the way; a brother-in-law, Gary (Barbara) Pleyte of Kalamazoo, and several special caregivers, but most especially, Tammey.

Barb was a charter member of the Living Hope Community Church of Richland, MI (formerly the Gull Lake Area Community Church). She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed golfing, reading and spending time with her family.

Barb's life celebration will be held on Monday, July 25th at 12:30 p.m. at the Living Hope Community Church, 9292 East CD Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 with the Rev. Todd J. TerAvest, Pastor, officiating. Barb's family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. until the service time at the church on Monday. Barb will be buried with her husband, Dick at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barb's honor may be directed to Living Hope Community Church. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is handling Barb's arrangements.
