Bret R. Liggett, 59, of Augusta, passed away on September 23, 2021. Bret was born January 18, 1962 in Kalamazoo to William and Barbara (Ward) Liggett. He was a 1980 graduate of Gull Lake High School, served honorably in the United States Army, and later graduated from Spring Arbor University. He worked for many years as an insurance claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance and also co-owned the Galesburg Pizza King with his long-time significant other, Robin Ritchie.

Bret loved music, especially playing guitar. Performing with his many bands were a highlight throughout his many years. When not performing he enjoyed fishing and boating, watching movies, animals and anything to do with comedy. He cherished all of his dogs he owned over the years. He has always been extremely close with his parents and felt very fortunate to have been able to spend as much time with them as possible. But his greatest joy in life was being a Papa to his grandchildren and spending time with them, his sons and Robin.

Bret was preceded in death by his uncle Glen McGuire. Bret is survived by his parents, William and Barbara Liggett; two sons, Jeremy (Ashley) Liggett and Adam Liggett; his significant other, Robin Ritchie; his favorite sister, Lyn Nash; a special nephew, Dylan Nash; two step-daughters, Shelby (Marshall) and Tayler (Anthony); grandchildren, Hannah, Keagan, Olivia, Nolan, Madison, Camden, Sidney, Grayson and The Sisters; an aunt June McGuire along with many other special aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, and last but not least, the dogs Daisy and Sophie.

A memorial open house to celebrate Bret's life will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel. A time of sharing for family and friends will begin at 4:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to any animal shelter or rescue of one's choice.
