Carl Dean "Deano" Carpenter, age 58, of Athens died Wednesday, May 8, 2019. He was born in Coldwater, MI on July 22, 1960, the son of to Arthur and Elma (Wisnieski) Carpenter. Dean graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1978. He attended MSU and studied in their electrical program and then completed his apprenticeship locally to earn his journeyman status. Dean worked for the local IBEW #445 for many years and was very well liked and respected by his co-workers for both his hard work ethic and outgoing personality.

Dean's interests included cooking, racing, reading, fishing, snowmobiling, and home improvements or anything that involved tools. He also loved spending time up north at the family cabin that he helped build. As a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek area, Dean was often recognized anywhere he went.

Dean lived his life on his own terms much like his favorite song "Be a Simple Man".

Dean was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Denise A. (Prior) Carpenter; his brother, Martin (Kathleen) Carpenter of Lowell; nephews, Justin and Catlin Carpenter of St. Petersburg, Fl.; nieces, Kennedy and Sydney Dodde of Lowell; and several special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 31st at the Riverside County Club, 245 Columbia Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49015.
