Cyrus "Pete" M Silkworth, age 72, of Battle Creek passed away on Saturday morning, January 30, 2021. He was born in Marshall on November 23,1948, the son of Cyrus M and Thelma (Fuller) Silkworth. Pete graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He worked at Life Ambulance (Marshall), the Battle Creek Public Schools and later operated his own trucking business.

Pete married his high school sweetheart, Linda M. Brown in Battle Creek on November 26,1966. He is survived by his wife of 54 years. He is also survived by their five children, Peter Silkworth, David (Tanya Ridella-Mehlos) Silkworth, Steven Silkworth, Jeannie Silkworth, and MaryLynn (Mike) Shepard; four siblings, Jerry Gates, Frank (Annette) Silkworth, Mary Silkworth, and Archie (Valerie) Silkworth; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren in addition to the many more that thought of him as "Papa Pete"; and special friend Kay Butler.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Gates; his sister, Eva Joan Shreve; his granddaughter Katie Butler; and his beloved dog, Max.

Pete loved exploring the outdoors, watching baseball and football and taking camping trips with his family. When he realized that he needed help with raising his special needs daughter he moved her into a foster home which he adopted into his own family. He loved cooking and caring for his family, but mostly he just loved being "Papa Pete" to anyone and everyone.

Pete was the glue that held his family together. He was always there to lend a hand or provide guidance and he will be greatly missed by his entire family.
