David Payne Owen, 78, passed Thursday, May 9, 2019 at his residence in Ft. Myers, FL. He was born May 14, 1940, in Battle Creek, the son of Dale A. and Donna (Payne) Owen, was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in engineering from Western Michigan University. David was employed for over 40 years at the Kellogg Co. and retired from the scheduling and purchasing department in 1998.

David is survived by his daughter, Barb E. (Scott) Ross of Battle Creek; his son, Don P. (Missy) Owen of Jackson, MI; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dale Ann Owen and Jane (Roger) Linn. He was preceded by his parents; a brother, Tom Owen; a daughter, Beth; and a son, David.

David took part in the ROTC program during college, was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose. David played tennis all his life, in high school, four years in college, and coached for a short time. David also enjoyed watching Michigan football, playing golf, hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his family.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 20th at the funeral home with Dr. Mike Bracy, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
