David Ramsdell, 80 of Scotts, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born March 7, 1937 in Kalamazoo to his parents Howard E. and Mildred P. (Wyble) Ramsdell. David retired from Graphic Packaging (fka Fort James Corp) in Kalamazoo after 44 years of loyal service. After his retirement, he worked for Pease Packing Corporation in Scotts. In addition to helping his in-laws, Cecil A. and Oella G. (Jackson) Vosburg, on their cattle farm, David sustained a small cattle farm with his wife, Rita Mae. In the 1950's, David served as an Information Specialist 4 in the United States Army and Marine Reserve.

David united in marriage on December 19, 1959 in Angola, Indiana to Rita Mae Vosburg. His wife of 56 years passed away October 6, 2016. David is survived by his children, Mary Jayne (Bill) Martin, Daniel (Paige) Ramsdell, Doretta (Brad) Boase, Rosemary (Kos) Semonski, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and his brother, Louis (Joyce) Ramsdell. David was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Joan Ramsdell and Judy (Roger) Newmeyer.

David loved being with his grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, and working outdoors. His gardening talents always produced the best tomatoes; wearing his bib overhauls while driving his John Deere and listening to loud music are lasting memories. David enjoyed playing cribbage with his grandson, starting his day with a game of solitary, and in the 'good ole' days hosting pinochle parties. Those closest to him knew Rita Mae was the love of his life and hanging out at the casino was his second love.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 17th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster, Augusta, Michigan.
Funeral Services to celebrate David's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Caleb C. Culver, officiating. Interment will follow at 11:30 AM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery located at 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, Michigan, with Ft. Custer and US Army Honors.
Memorial donations may be directed to "Hospice of Southwest Michigan", 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall #100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
