Dennis, age 71, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI following a lengthy illness.

Dennis, the son of Hartwell R. and Lucille E. (Shuben) Weigand, was born in Battle Creek, MI and was a 1963 graduate of Pennfield High School. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War as a Private in the United States Army with Company A, 17th Battalion. Dennis retired in 2004 after 26 years of faithful service as a Corrections Officer at Jackson (MI) State Prison. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and brother. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and watching sports especially his favorite team U of M. Dennis was always spending time with his daughters when they were growing up, taking them to amusement parks, zoos, museums, sledding, fishing, road trips to Chicago and would build them a snowman every winter. Later when his daughters were adults he was always there to listen, give advice or a shoulder to cry on, it didn't matter what day or time it was if a family member needed him he was there for them. Dennis always championed for the underdog and believed the best in a person until they proved him differently.

Dennis was united in marriage to the former, Keron D. Tinsley in Battle Creek on August 22, 1971. Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Keron; two daughters, Carol A. Sercombe of Spring Arbor, MI and Sara A. Parker of Parma, MI; 14 precious grandchildren Dustin Gerry, Tabitha Gerry, Ashley Gerry, Rebecca Clevenger, Jonathon Arney, Rylee Clevenger, Bethany Parker, David Gerry, Hartwell Weigand III, Kenneth Parker, Tyler Gerry, William Clevenger, Emma-Lee Parker, Olivia Sercombe; his sister, Roberta Shivley of Battle Creek, MI, sister-in-law Joyce Weigand of Springfield, MO and many nieces and nephews. "Death leaves a heartache
no one can heal,
love leaves a memory
no one can steal."
