Love Emblem

Today we honor the life of Dorothy Jean Heritage who passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Reflections Memory Care. Jean was a lifelong Christian and a past member of First Assembly of God.

Born Dorothy Jean Allen on December 14, 1923, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Earl I. and Mabel (Raser) Allen. She lived in Battle Creek and loved traveling to Florida and Tennessee. She married Richard H. Heritage and was married for 59 years until Richard's death in 2003.

Jean was employed at Post Foods early on and later at Wolverine Insurance where she was a supervisor retiring in 1985. She was admired by her friends and family for her great gift for decorating, sewing, crocheting, painting and her beautiful handwriting. She also enjoyed cooking for her family especially Sunday dinners and holidays.

She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her two children, Richard H. Heritage, Jr. of Battle Creek and Patricia A. (Lew) Allen of Marshall. Dorothy was very proud of her grandchildren, Kelly (Steve) Reed, Christopher (Jackie) Allen, Troy (Jamie) Allen, Kim (Rick) Gloar and Paige (Gary) Lloyd; and nine Great-Grandchildren.

A private service will be held for the immediate family with burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

Her children are very grateful to her caregivers from Reflections Memory Care in Battle Creek and Elara Caring Hospice. In lieu of flowers her children would prefer that you remember Dorothy by visiting someone in a care facility. Personal messages for the family may be placed here at
