She was born in Battle Creek on April 2, 1934, the loving daughter of Winston F. and Margaret J. (Nunn) Allen. Liz graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1952, and furthered her education at Western Michigan University.

Liz married the "Love of Her Life", Jack E. Hoffman in Battle Creek on September 18, 1954; he sadly preceded her in death on April 6, 2010. Liz is survived by her daughters, Anne (Rod) Rizor and Mary (Dan) Eriksson, both of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Amy (Eddie) Stanton, Bill (Kaylee) Rizor, Tom Rizor, Erin (Evan Meister) Eriksson, and Kirsten Eriksson; her great-grandchildren, Emmett Stanton, Jacqueline Rizor, and one "baby boy on the way"; her brother, Wendell (Gloria) Allen; her sister, Jeanette (Jim) Schmid; many loving nieces & nephews; and her special friend, Betty Hoffman. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marjorie Bradley; and her granddaughter, Emily Eriksson.

Liz loved birds, and spent many hours listening to recordings of and identifying bird calls. She was a member of the Binder Park Zoo and spent many hours there teaching about birds and giving bird tours at the Zoo. She was also a former Blue Birds and Campfire Girls Leader, and former member of the PTA, March of Dimes, and a big Michigan Tech Supporter. Liz was an avid reader, and also enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and canning. She also loved to fish with her husband, Jack, and was great at filleting the fish. But most of all, Liz loved spending time with her family and friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 8th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Liz's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 9th.
