Ernestine Kay Asher, 64, of Battle Creek went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

Kay was born on December 20, 1956 in Battle Creek to Ardill and Gladys (Howard) Asher. She was married to David Sims, the father of her children, from 1972 to 1981 and was formerly married to Sheldon Wenzel from 1991 to 1999. On June 8, 2002, Kay was united in marriage to Ron Davis. She worked as a dispatcher at Acme Truck Line and a manager at KFC, but her favorite job was as a foreman at the cookie factory, Interbake Foods.

Kay was a member of the Harvester for Christ Country Gospel Band, and she wrote music, sang, and played the drums. She also had a ministry that facilitated church services for handicapped people. She loved to travel and go out to eat, spend time with her family, and enjoyed shopping. She liked crocheting and loved to watch Christmas movies. Kay liked bowling, riding her bike, volleyball, and kickball. She enjoyed going to the lake, fishing and riding in the boat.

Kay is survived by her husband of 19 years, Ron Davis; daughter, Airetta (Bobby) Collins; sons, David Sims and Bobby (Jamie) Sims; grandchildren, Brandy Collins, Bobby Collins III, Ben Collins, Courtney Ledet, David Sims III, Jeff Sims, Bobby Sims II, Anthony Sims, Vanessa Sims, Evan Colter; great-grandchildren, Bethany and Ted; brothers, Ron Asher and Mike Asher; sisters, Linda Asher-Johnson and Jewell Richardson; and 35 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ardill and Gladys Asher; brother, Dallas Asher; sister, Diann Asher; and a granddaughter.

Kay's family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care (105 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek). A celebration of Kay's life will take place on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed at https://vimeo.com/event/1648142.
