Floyd A. "Art" Mabus, age 85, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, August 1, 2019. He was born in Union City, Michigan on March 15, 1934, the loving son of Guy and Charlotte (McCracken) Mabus. Art graduated from Union City High School and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army. He retired from the Kellogg Co. in 1995 after more than 25 years, and had previously been employed by Grand Trunk Western Railroad for more than 10 years.

Art married the "Love of His Life", Lois M. Tefertiller in Monument, Colorado on May 26, 1957. He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Lois; his children, Stacy (José) Caballero, Christine (Lonnie) McGlothen and Brenda Kirk; his grandchildren, Emily (Ken), Joel, Evan, Michelle, Amy, Ryan, Ashley; and his great-grandchildren, Valentina, Logan, Zaylee, and Isaiah. Art was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers & sisters.

A true servant, Art was a 52 year member of Maple United Methodist Church, Battle Creek, where he served as head usher, sang in the choir and was the official/unofficial church greeter. He was also a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club. A true handyman and outdoorsman, Art enjoyed puttering & tinkering, fishing, playing baseball & softball, feeding the birds, and finding brilliant ideas to "Keep the Squirrels Away". He also enjoyed playing pool and board & card games, but most of all, Art loved spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 9th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where a memorial service to celebrate Art's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Linda D. Stoddard, officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials directed to the Maple United Methodist Church 342 Capital Ave. NE Battle Creek, MI 49017 would be appreciated.
