Gary William Bleyer of Richland, MI

Gary, age 75, was born in Grand Rapids, MI and died in Richland, MI on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Gary served his Country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He was a Sergeant assigned to the 72nd Field Maintenance Squadron (SAC). He married Lyndell in 1972 and received his BSW from WMU in 1976. Gary had been employed 3 years at Muskegon Community Mental Health; 25 years with MESC and DSS; then delivered flowers for Swonks for 14 years. In addition to his wife, Lyn, two sisters also survive, Alida (Marlan) Arnoys and Linda (Tom) Weeks along with many loving cousins, in-laws and friends.

Gary and Lyn volunteered at the Hot Air Balloon Championships in Battle Creek for several years and the Kalamazoo Sail and Power Squadron. He served 5 years as KSPS's Commander. He was also a member of SMARS amateur (ham) radio.

According to Gary's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The Graveside Service to celebrate Gary's life will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. (Anyone wishing to attend the brief ceremony is required to wear a mask.) The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Gary's family.
