Georgia "Sassy Pants" Norton of Battle Creek, MI

Georgia, age 88, died Saturday evening, December 2, 2017 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI following a two week illness.

Georgia, the daughter of Lasor and Christina (Taliva) Ristoff, was born in Battle Creek on January 13, 1929 and was a lifetime resident. She retired in the 1990's as the bartender for Angelo's Bar and Restaurant of Bailey Park after more than 30 years of mixology. Georgia had been a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. She thoroughly enjoyed Macedonia Dancing and was the "Consummate Hostess" for any and all parties, but her passion in life was always her family.

Georgia was united in marriage to Richard James "Dick" Norton in Battle Creek on October 17, 1954 and he sadly preceded her in death on November 5, 2003. Surviving is her daughter, Brandi Lee (Ron) Gillson of Battle Creek and two grandsons, Dylan A.J. McKale and Cameron J. McKale. Georgia was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dawn Marie Norton-Morand on December 25, 2005; six sisters and one brother.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Georgia's life will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, with the Rev. Ronald A. Anderson, Pastor of the Urbandale Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow next to her beloved husband, Dick at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Georgia's family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
