Harthalene (Land) Casterline of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at home with her family at her side and in the care of Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan.

Harthalene was born June 15th in Hazard, Kentucky the daughter of Herbert and Grace (Ferguson) Land. She grew up in Cincinnati and Battle Creek, attending Battle Creek Central High School, where she completed her GED and then two years of College. Harthalene was employed at Post Gardens as a planter and greenhouse assistant.

Harthalene was formerly married to Jack Presley. Harthalene married Gerald Ruel Casterline on August 28, 1982 at Birchwood United Methodist Church in Battle Creek. Surviving are her husband, Jerry Casterline; two daughters, Lisa (John) Green of Clare, MI, Jade Casterline of Battle Creek; a son, Michael (Kimberly) Presley of Battle Creek; stepson, Stephen (Becky) Casterline of Nashville, MI; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Land of Clearwater, FL. Harthalene was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jim Land.

Harthalene enjoyed reading books, solving crossword puzzles and riding around with Jerry in her 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix that her husband, Jerry restored for her. She loved her family, animals and her pets. She didn't pass many garage sales and loved shopping. Harthalene will be remembered as a passionate, intelligent and strong individual.

Friends will be received 4:00-5:00 p.m Sunday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where a service to celebrate Harthalene's life will be officiated by Susan Morgan at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2021.
