Helen Jane Holcomb, age 88, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 5, 2017 at the W. Drive Assisted Living in Bellevue. She was born in Battle Creek on June 4, 1928, the loving daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Case) Spaulding. Helen worked as a receptionist for Dr. Harold Anderson's office and then worked in the business office at Leila Hospital until she retired in 1990.

Helen was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert L. Rose and Richard F. Holcomb; a son, Gary Rose; two brothers, Norman & Bill Spaulding; and a great-grandson, Gary Jacob. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Larry) Metcalf and Brenda (Dennis) Parker, both of Battle Creek; five step-children; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Clara (Ted) McKelvey; and a brother, Robert Spaulding.

Helen was a member of the Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Helen's life will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 16th at the Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Battle Creek Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle or the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. Helen will be interred next to her husband, Richard at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
