Hugh H. "Jr." Burdette, Jr., age 65, of Battle Creek unexpectedly passed away at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2020. He was born in Battle Creek on August 12, 1954, the son of Hugh and Dorothy (Loyer) Burdette. Due to health problems, Jr. retired in 2009 from the Local #312 International Painters & Allied Trades Union after more than 35 years serving with Burdette Painting, Cereal City Painting and Schweitzer Construction. He was fondly known as the "Best Wallpaperer in Battle Creek".

Jr. is survived by his son, Ryan (Mindy Marsh) Burdette of Battle Creek; his granddaughter, Andria Burdette; his sisters, Sandy Sanborn of Florida, Marilyn (Keith) Holibaugh of Marshall, and Wanda Hill of Bath, Michigan; his brother, Bradley (Tonya) Burdette of Coldwater; his special friends, Lita Vaden and Becky Burdette; his step-children, Jodi Rose, Don (Kyleigh) Rose, and Rosalie (John) Gambone; seven step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; his special dogs, Angel & Precious; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan J. Burdette; his parents; his sister, Janet Wood; and brother, Harvey Burdette.

Jr. was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #298, the P.N.A. of Battle Creek, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #299. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes in the American Legion Wednesday Night league. Jr. also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family & friends, especially his son, Ryan and granddaughter, Andria who he absolutely adored.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31st at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The government's orders of limited capacity and social distancing guidelines will be followed throughout the visitation time. A private-invitation only service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 1st and will be livestreamed on the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care Facebook page or by visiting the link: .
