Jack C. "Papa" Heston, age 75, of Battle Creek passed away Friday afternoon, July 20, 2018. He was born in Battle Creek on January 8, 1943, the loving son of Jack O. and Margaret M. (Clair) Heston and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. Jack retired from the Battle Creek Gas Company in 1998 after more than 30 years of faithful service.

Jack married the "Love of His Life", Michele K. "Mickey" O'Connell in Battle Creek on November 30, 1960; she survives. He is also survived by three children, Kelly (Don) Barber of Battle Creek, Shannon Landers of Battle Creek, and Stacy (Randy) Cochensparger of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Amber, Jeremiah, Kalli, Madison, Cade, and Emma; four great-grandchildren, Aubrielle, Elijah, Miah, and A'Shauntee; his sister, Debbie Hunter; his brother-in-law, Don Heath; several nieces & nephews; and special friends, Mel and Jeanette. Jack was sadly preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dawn Heath; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Hunter.

A true patriarch, Jack was called "Superman" by his grandkids and nieces & nephews; and "The Governor of Wolf Lake" by many. Jack loved his "Friday Night Happy Hours" with family and friends. An avid golfer, Jack had two Hole-in-Ones, and was a huge Detroit Lions fan and a member of the P.N.A. in Battle Creek.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Christopher J. Ankley, 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
