Living courageously with cancer for nearly 4 years, Jack Thomas Lick, age 79, of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.

Jack was born in Tutwiler, MS in 1937 and is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jack and his wife, Mary Lou, raised their family in Santa Anna, CA, Battle Creek, MI, Memphis, TN and Brooklyn Park, MN. Jack became involved with union work with Ralston Purina and retired as a Vice President from the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union. After retiring, Jack and Mary Lou became avid snowbirds and eventual residents of Mesa, AZ.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Bird) Lick. He is survived by his children, Carol Staples, Jeff Lick and Jennifer (Jason) Whittemore; grandchildren, Shana Munoz and Thom (Ashley)Staples; great-grandchild, Marley Munoz; siblings, Sue (Rex) Owens and Iris DeShon; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends around the country.

Funeral services to celebrate Jack's life will be held at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Battle Creek, MI at a date to be determined in the spring of 2018, followed by interment with full military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that sympathy be expressed in honor of Jack T. Lick to Disabled Veterans of American, DAV.org, or Hospice of the Valley, www.hov.org.
