Jerrold E. Merritt, 83, of Battle Creek, died August 6, 2020 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. Jerry was born March 12, 1937 in Marshall to Glenn and Margaret (Eipper) Merritt. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1955 and went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was the longtime owner of JT Cycle and JT Hobby Shop. Jerry loved motorcycles and remote control airplanes.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Merritt; four children, Jim (Deb) Merritt, Jennifer (Teri Golden) Merritt, Paul (Alicia) Curtis and Josh Curtis; 8 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Joyce Warner and Jeanine Merritt.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jimmy Merritt and a sister, Jackie Lockyer.

A celebration of life was held August 9, 2020. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Memorial donations may be made to the Balsa Bees Club. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
