Joseph Clarence "Joe" Brookmyer of Battle Creek, MI

Joe, age 73, died Saturday evening, January 28, 2017 at The Oaks of NorthPointe Woods, Battle Creek, following a two-year illness.

Joe, the son of Clarence and Zora (Aussets) Brookmyer, was born in Perrysburg, OH on August 30, 1943; was a 1961 graduate of Fremont (OH) High School and moved to this area in 1965. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War as an AB E1 in the United States Air Force with the 416 Original Maintenance Squadron of the Strategic Air Command. Joe was a Semi Truck Driver for over thirty years retiring in 2004 from USF Holland Trucking Lines. He was an avid boater with his Pride and Joy, "Joe's Dream" docked in South Haven with access to the Big Lake, Lake Michigan.

Joe was united in marriage to the former Karen L. (nee: Rowe) Beatty in Las Vegas, NV on March 1, 1999. Surviving is his wife, Karen; a daughter, Kimberly A. Hall of Battle Creek; his son, Robert S. Beatty of Battle Creek and two precious grandchildren, Jacob S. Hall and Jennifer A. Hall, both of Battle Creek. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jacquelyn Tichenor and Mary Hesser.

The Graveside Service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Thursday, 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Joe's family with his arrangements.
