Joyce Rita (Young) Poll, 87, passed peacefully surrounded by loving family at Bronson Hospital, Battle Creek on Saturday July 14, 2018 after a short illness. Born June 19, 1931 to Leslie J. Young and Agnes A. (Witt) in Muskegon, MI. She attended St. Joseph's High School in Muskegon and Mercy School of Nursing Class of '52, working as an RN at the VA Battle Creek, MI. She married Jay F. Poll September 18, 1954 in Saginaw.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Conrad (Hazel) Young, Alberta (Robert) Nicles, Victor Young, Paul (Stevie) Young, Barbara (Francis) Connelly, Donald (Marie) Young, Russell (Barbara) Young, and her beloved husband and cherished daughter Jeane Marie.

She leaves her children: James Poll, Texas, Jacqueline (Bryan) Lewis of Wisconsin, Daniel (Glenda Smith) Poll of Augusta, Thomas (Jennifer) Poll of Traverse City, Timothy Poll of Holland and numerous grandchildren. Joyce was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joyce faced numerous challenges in her life and she met them with great courage, grace and faith. Joyce also was a talented artist and also a big heart that cared for children other than her own.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to either the Post-Polio Network or Free Wheelchair Mission. ( www.freewheelchairmission.org). A Celebration of Life and Joy will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment, Michigan on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father James O'Leary. Interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Please come dressed in celebratory colors as this is a Life Celebration.
