Judith Ann (Asline) "Judy" Whaley of Richland, MI

Judy, age 83, died Thursday morning, December 28, 2017 at the Glen Arbor Hospice Residence, Battle Creek, MI with her loving family at her side.

Judy, the daughter of Dr. J. Norris and Marion (Hotaling) Asline, was born in Bay City, MI on June 21, 1934. She was a 1953 graduate of Bay City Central High School; attended Albion college for two years; became a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art, where she was the second woman to graduate with a degree in Industrial Design. Judy worked as an interior designer throughout the '60's and '70's in the Flint and Detroit areas. In 1981, she moved to Ann Arbor to join The University of Michigan Interior Design Staff and one of her projects was designing hockey coach, Red Berenson's office for him. Judy was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. She retired in 2005 and moved to the Richland area to be close to her son and his family. Judy was a Loyal Wolverine Football Fan having been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. She loved to read, but her passion was traveling and was fortunate to have visited all 50 states, some of Canada, as well as Europe and Asia. Even with her world travels, the favorite place in the whole world was still the family cabin on the Au Sable River in Crawford County (Grayling, MI).

Judy is survived by her son, Warren R. (Valerie) Whaley of Galesburg, MI; two precious grandsons, Steven R. Whaley of Houston, TX and Brian C. Whaley, serving the Peace Corps in Benin, West Africa and her sister, Nancy (James) Alexander of Oscoda, MI. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends will gather at her "Most Favorite Spot in the World," the Au Sable River at a later date to commemorate her life. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Judy's family with her arrangements.
