Heart Emblem

Julie Mae Wells, age 58, Battle Creek, departed this life to be with her Lord on Saturday
, July 13, 2019. Julie was born in Battle Creek on October 16, 1960, the daughter of Rufus P. Wines and his beloved wife Flora M. (McClain) Wines.

Julie, known by most as Mama Julie or Aunt JuJu, touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered by all, as the woman that could accomplish anything from working a full time job, to caring for all the children in her neighborhood whether it be simply giving advice or taking them in and ensuring that they were safe, warm, fed, and above all they were loved. Giving was a second nature to Julie, she always made sure that her family, friends, and even strangers had what they needed even if that meant she went without. She enjoyed attending services at Life in Christ Ministries, watching true crime TV and going to yard sales. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandbabies grow.

Julie is survived by her loving husband, Robert T. Wells Jr.; her children, Joshua (Jennifer) Black, Cody (Eva) Wells, Melissa (Deleo) Richardson-Powell and Cheyanne (Alexandrea) Wells; her grandchildren & her pride and joy, Skilar Black, Harlee Black, DeeAna Black, Robert Wells III, Christopher Wells, Nom'Aria Barajas, Christopher Barajas II, and Deleo Richardson-Powell Jr.; her sisters whom she loved dearly, Gloria (Jimmy) Szakacs and Mary Stamper; mother in-law, Tammie Villa and many nieces and nephews that she cherished deeply and through them her memory will be carried on through generations. She was sadly preceded in death by her parents, Rufus P. Wines and Flora M. Wines, and her brother in-law, David C. Stamper, and her nephew, Ryan D. Black.

The family will receive friends 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 19th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Julie's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20th. After the services there will be a barbeque at 527 Riverside Drive in Battle Creek. Each family may bring their favorite dish to pass although it is not required. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the family c/o Cody Wells.
