Larry Glenn Lamphier, age 76, of Battle Creek, died peacefully at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Sunday, July 30, 2017. He was born April 11, 1941 in Battle Creek to Glenn R. and Beatrice A. (Lybarger) Lamphier. Larry was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek, graduating from Springfield High School in 1959. He was employed by Transamerica Insurance and Clark Equipment Company before co-owning and operating Lamphier's Lakeside Grocery in Cloverdale, Michigan with his parents and brother.

Larry married Norma Clark on November 23, 1963, and though separated for many years, they remained friends throughout his life. Also surviving are sons Tim Lamphier of Sapphire, NC, Bruce Lamphier of Kalamazoo, MI, and Douglas (Desiree) Lamphier of Portage, MI, three granddaughters, Brittani Lamphier, Savannah Lamphier, and Holly Lamphier, and his brother Dwight (Joan) Lamphier, and sister, Darlene (Jim) Carter. Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry enjoyed participating in sporting activities throughout his life, and particularly enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan and would regularly attend local sporting events. He was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church and enjoyed participating in church fellowship activities and potlucks.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Larry's life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Community of Christ Church, 1405 W. Territorial Rd., Battle Creek MI 49015. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Interment has taken place at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of SW Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49008, or Community of Christ Church. Arrangements were by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family and/or favorite memories of Larry may be placed at
