He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Battle Creek Bombers and hosted baseball team members in his home for many years. He loved music and especially enjoyed concerts by the Brass Band of Battle Creek. He also enjoyed cars, tennis, running, and touring homes. Louis and his wife loved to bring people together and are fondly remembered for their large parties for family and friends on July 4, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Louis was a kind, warm-hearted and hard-working man who was devoted to his family. He married the former Marilyn M. Fuller on April 23, 1966, in Trinity Lutheran Church.
