Love Emblem

Mary Margaret "Mig" (Dugan) Galloup died after a short illness on Monday, March 1, 2021. Mig was born on March 13, 1922 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Dr. William M. Dugan and Lucy Bourgeois Dugan. She had three brothers who preceded her in death: Bill, Eddie and Bob. Mig attended high school at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, Illinois. She graduated from Maryville College in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology.

After graduation she worked for Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek servicing returning veterans. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Galloup on October 19, 1946. Mig was very active and a member of the St. Philip Guild, Junior League of Battle Creek, and St. Philip's Church. She was a volunteer at Leila Post Montgomery Hospital and the Battle Creek Veteran's Hospital. Mig enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, bridge and was an accomplished pianist. Mig's greatest love was being with people and having fun. She had charm, style, and a great sense of humor. She was an extrovert and had an uncanny way of making the person she was talking to feel like the most important person in the world. When Mig walked into a room everything would brighten and spirits were lifted.

Mig and Bob enjoyed their retirement together when they moved to Naples, Florida in 1994. She relocated to Battle Creek in 2013 to be closer to friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1999 and oldest daughter Kathleen in 2015. Surviving are her daughters: Ellen (Dennis) Faurot, Lucie (John Weston) Galloup, Mary (Clayton Force) Galloup and Michelle (Dick Davis) Ferree. She also has nine loving grandchildren: Emilie, Jeannie, Michelle, Megan, Holly, Sarah, Andrew, Becky and Brian. She loved her 13 great grandchildren: Claire, Jack, Charlie, Patrick, Michael, Gabbie, Joe, Lucy, Sam, Caitlin, Nora, Justin and Katie. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mig and family would like to thank NorthPointe Woods in Battle Creek and Hospice of Southwest Michigan for their loving care.

A private family gathering and burial will occur in June when we gather to honor Mig and celebrate a life lived to the fullest. We will miss our Mother and Gramie so much, but are comforted by the verse: "They are not dead who live in lives they leave behind: In those whom they have blessed they live a life again."
