Mildred Louise Rueckert, age 97, of Battle Creek passed away Monday morning, December 18, 2017 surrounded with love. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 22, 1920, the daughter of Emil and Louise (Brown) Rueckert.

Mildred is survived by her sweetheart and companion of 46 years, Donna Gene Hodges of Battle Creek; two special friends, Kim Harrington and Denise Jones of Battle Creek; her nieces, Karen Nelson, of Minneapolis, MN, Kim Koster, Cheryl Greener and Betty Wessle of Wisconsin; and her nephew, Matt (Patti) Phillips of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Loretta Phillips, Ruth Sisson, and her brother, Howard Rueckert.

Mildred proudly served as a Staff Sargent in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. She then moved to Battle Creek where she retired from the CW Post Company after more than 32 years of service.

In 1997, Mildred and Donna moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ where they made their home until recently moving back home to Battle Creek. Mildred enjoyed fishing, playing cards, slot machines and sharing time and laughter with good friends and family.

Funeral services to celebrate Mildred's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday. Mildred will be interred at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
