Pearl I. "Pat" Akins, 89, left her earthly home and winged her flight beyond the starry sky, to meet her Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ, face to face on Monday morning, September 18th.

Mrs. Akins was born March 28, 1928, to Arthur and Pearl (Collins) DuPree, in Battle Creek Michigan, where she resided all of her life, until moving to Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City, MI in 2015 to be near family.

Pat attended Battle Creek Central High School. She married Bill (Sonny) Akins October 11, 1946. They shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2013.

Mrs. Akins was employed in the accounts payable department at Kellogg's of Battle Creek for 36 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the 25 Year Club.

Pat was gifted at ceramics and made many beautiful gifts for family in her younger years.

Pat was known for being caring, loving, devoted and kind.

She and husband Bill enjoyed bowling and golfing together. Following retirement, Bill and Pat's Collectibles and Antiques business really took off. They worked with several antique malls in Michigan and traveled to Shipshewana, Indiana for many years to sell at the Flea Market, which was comprised of around 900 vendors. The Turkey Farm was also on their itinerary.

Pat's love for her Lord, Jesus, was soon evident to all who met her. Saved as a child, she lived her faith, and served her local church in various ways, including Treasurer. Her devotion and faithful lifestyle was instrumental in her husband, Bill, also coming to know the Lord Jesus as his own personal Saviour as well. (James 3:1-6) The Akins' attended West Michigan Church of the Nazarene, Beadle Lake Road Church of the Nazarene, and Garrison Hills Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Akins is survived by her niece Patricia (Darrell) Gresley, nephew Jerry (Annette) Niles, nephew David (Suzan) Niles, sister-in-law Marilyn Akins, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews, her special church friends, and housemates and staff at Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City.

In addition to her husband and parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Niles, step-mother Mildred Thorp, in-laws Walter and Marge Akins, brothers-in-law Carlton Niles and John Akins, sisters-in-law Joby Butine, Joyce (Midge) Carr, Lorraine (Bernard) Hamilton.

Sincere appreciation is given to the staffs at Munson Cadillac Hospital and Samaritas Rehabilitation Center in Cadillac.
