Rita Mae Ramsdell, 76 of Scotts, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 30, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan to her parents Cecil A. and Oella G. (Jackson) Vosburg. She was a 1985 Climax-Scotts Adult Education Graduate, and she drove a school bus for 14 years with the Climax-Scotts School District. She also worked for the Cowcatcher Restaurant in Climax, Michigan. Later in life she provided full time care for her aging father, mother and mother in-law, Mildred Ramsdell. She was a lifelong residence of mid-west Michigan residing solely in the Climax-Scotts community.
Rita was united in marriage 56 years ago on December 19, 1960 in Angola, Indiana to her husband David E. Ramsdell. Rita is survived by her husband David, and her children, Mary Jayne (Bill) Martin, Daniel (Paige) Ramsdell, Doretta (Brad) Boase, Rosemary (Kos) Semonski, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and her sister Rosemary (Robert) Oostveen. Rita was proceeded in death by her parents, Cecil and Oella Vosburg, and her brother Charles Vosburg.
Rita loved being with her grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, egg hunts, picnics and going to the zoo. She adored Mickey Mouse, loved making cookies, strawberry jam, shopping, shopping and, of course, shopping. Rita had a talent for making ceramics, crocheting afghans, planning parties and taking care of others.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12 from 4-7 PM at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster, Augusta, Michigan.
Funeral Services to celebrate Rita's life will be officiated by Pastor Beverly Williams of Climax United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster, Augusta, Michigan.
Interment will follow at 11:30 AM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery located at 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be directed to "Hospice of Southwest Michigan".
