Robert E. King, 91, of Battle Creek, died August 2, 2017. Robert was born June 3, 1926 in Battle Creek to Jesse and Sarah (Cooper) King. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 in the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theatre. He briefly worked for the Kellogg Company and retired from the Battle Creek Gas Company in 1987 as a serviceman after 36 years of service.

Bob married the former JoAnn French on May 8, 1949. He enjoyed fishing, building bird feeders that he sold at craft shows, visiting family and friends, and spending time with his many dogs. He was a member of the American Legion, Burnham Brook Community Center and the Battle Creek Pony Association.
Bob is survived by his wife, JoAnn; two children, Jane King of Kalamazoo and James (Barbara) King of Fort Collins, CO and grandsons, Alex Edl and Justin Edl. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Priest, a brother, David King; a nephew, Robert Priest and a niece, Sandra Reed.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandfather and friend. He had a smile for everyone and greeted each day with a sunny outlook. One of the family's favorite "Bobisms" was that at age 91, he always said, "I don't have an ache or a pain."
