Love Emblem

Rogelio Ramon, better known a "Roy" (70) was born November 18, 1947 to Ismael Ramon and Amelia Cavazos in Pearsall, Texas. He left TX as a young man to migrate to Battle Creek, MI with his family. It was in Battle Creek where Roy grew to become the man of his house providing for his family. He promised to never leave his family and kept that promise, by being the best father he could be. Roy often played blues riffs on his guitar while his children frolicked on his Pennfield farm. Roy also frequented the public pool with Ricky, Rebecca and Roberto while living in Austin, TX. He was truly a man with a heart of gold and above all, Roy was a very loving and supportive father. He was always there for his son Randy's football games. Along with his wife, Roy dropped Rebecca and Roberto off at their first year of college; he was so proud of his children attending college. Roy also had a style you couldn't buy in any store. Roy was an artist, an entrepreneur, and an adventurer who would pack up the family for cross country trips to California, Texas, and Mexico. He taught his family how to live and let live. Also, that love, benevolence, and compassion are all we need in this world, which is why he made sure to make his children kiss and hug after any argument. Roy also loved listening to music, especially The Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Blues and watching History Channel and National Geographic's; WWII being his favorite topic. Roy enjoyed gardening, restoring and creating furniture, and crafting theatrical props. One of his props is being used this summer at McKay Dole Library in Augusta Village; where Roy has been a resident the last 10 years. Roy was a well-liked, respected, fun loving free spirit who had friends and family across the country and from all walks of life. Roy was proud of who he was and more than anything, he was proud of his family and loved them wholeheartedly. Near the end of Roy' life he was able to visit CA, where he spent his last days having fun hanging out with his daughter, Rebecca Blu Ramon.

On Saturday evening July 14th 2018, Rogelio Ramon transcended to heaven to return home and rest in eternal peace; alongside his beloved mother Amelia, siblings, and Stormy who went before. Roy Ramon, was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dora, and a brother Ismael Jr. Rogelio is survived by his wife, Maria O. DeLeon Ramon of Kalamazoo; 4 children, Randall (Carla) Ramon (48) of Marshall, MI; Ricky Ramon (44) of Battle Creek, Rebecca Ramon (39) of Los Angeles, CA, and Roberto Ramon (36) of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren: Victoria Fox (23), Ricky Santino Ramon (14), and Penelope Blue Ramon (8 mos). 2 great-grandchildren; Luna (2) and Sol (4 mos).
