Ronald J. "Ron" Canfield, 72, of Battle Creek, passed away February 19, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family. Ron was born January 31, 1950 in Battle Creek to James and Betty (Freeman) Canfield. He married Margaret Smith on June 13, 1970. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage.
Ron worked at Post Cereals for many years, retiring in 1995. Ron loved animals and enjoyed fostering pets through the Humane Society. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake, fishing with his family. Ron was a passionate bowler and participated in a variety of bowling leagues and tournaments over the years. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning his 300 ring for bowling a perfect game.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, their four sons, Ron (Kris) Canfield, Brian (Kara) Canfield, David (Christie) Canfield and Kevin (Karin) Canfield; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Dave (Carol) Canfield; two sisters, Judy (Tom) Green and Karen Wright as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services to celebrate Ron's life will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Father James Richardson. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28th at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Ron may go to The Battle Creek Humane Society or St. Philip Church Building Maintenance Fund.
