Shannon Joette Dager, 65 of Battle Creek and formerly of Muskegon died peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018 after 3 years of a steady decline with Alzheimer's combined with her Downs' Syndrome that she was born with.

Shannon was born August 25, 1953 in Muskegon, Michigan and was the daughter of Neal Norman and Darlene Lorraine (Pettit) Dager. She grew up in Muskegon, where she attended a school specializing in the education and care of children with Down's syndrome and other mental and physical challenges. Shannon was employed at Goodwill Industries in Muskegon. Shannon was cared for all her life by her mother, until last year when her mom's health no longer permitted her to do so. Shannon lived most of her life in Muskegon until moving with her mom to Battle Creek in 2012.

Shannon is survived by her mother, Darlene L. Dager of Battle Creek; her brother, Rande N. Dager of Climax; her sister, Darlene "Shelli" and husband (Butch) Barnes of Cleveland, Tennessee near Chattanooga.

Shannon's father Neal became a special education teacher because of his dedication and love for Shannon. She was preceded in death by her father, Neal in 1988, and a sister, Roxanne DeCamp in 2004 and her grandparents Leslie and Ella Bridgeman in 1997..

Shannon was a very special Down's person in that she knew the dates of all of her family's birthdays and every year she would check the calendar to memorize what day they fell on. She loved music boxes, electronic keyboards, and any toys that played music. She enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk and dancing to the music.. Shannon will be remembered as friendly and always excited to see people. She managed to avoid gray hair and continue to remain a redhead throughout her entire 65 years!

A yet to be determined private family service will be held in memory of Shannon. Arrangements are by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
