Sue Ann Hostetler, age 73, of Elkhart passed away peacefully at her son's home in Augusta, Michigan on Thursday morning, June 1, 2017. She was born in Indianapolis on September 20,1943, the loving daughter of Edward F. and Jane (Dunning) Dirks. Sue graduated from Purdue University and retired from the St. Joseph Public Library in 2016 after nearly 20 years of faithful service.

Sue is survived by her children, John (Charmaine) Hostetler of Augusta, Michigan, Mike (Amy) Hostetler of Valparaiso, Karen (Keith) Baker of Colorado, and Kevin (Sara) Hostetler of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Katherine Dirks of Washington D.C., Barbara Dirks of Indianapolis, and a brother, James (Barb) Dirks of Illinois. She was sadly preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Betsy.

Sue was a proud Purdue University alumnus and was a huge supporter of Purdue Boilermakers Athletics. She enjoyed quilting and reading, but her true love in life was spending time with her family and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events.

At Sue's request, cremation has taken place and she will be interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to your local library or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta, Michigan.
