Prayer Emblem

Susan E. Rush, age 61, of Battle Creek went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born in Battle Creek on February 24, 1961 to Marvin R. and Joyce G. (Craig) Rush.

Susan lived 59 of her 61 years in Battle Creek, attended Lakeview Schools, and graduated from WMU and MSU. She loved all things sports and fitness and was a diehard Michigan fan. She loved her dog, "Disco" and never wanted to waste a day. She lived a full and happy life.

Susan had an eclectic work life that included 18 years of manufacturing, a landscape business and in the non-profit arena. Her favorite job was working at Barnes and Noble.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Rush, Joyce G. Rush, Joyce A. Rush; and brothers, Craig Rush and Erik Hansen. She is survived by her brothers, Tod A. Rush, Michael Hansen, Gregory Hansen all of Battle Creek; and a nephew, Ian M. Rush, of San Diego.

Susan helped foster grandparent five local kids, John, Aubrianna, Nyonnah, Shane, and Shayonna. She was lovingly referred to as "G-ma Sue". She believed "readers are leaders" and helped introduce the kids to the library and bookstore. The family would like to thank her good friends, Donna Pape and Linda Linke.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan's life will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, June 20th in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Donations can be made to the Susan E. Rush Memorial Agricultural Scholarship Fund at the Battle Creek Community Foundation, the Calhoun County Animal Center or to CIR.
