Walter Jay Cole, 82, passed away in Battle Creek, Michigan, on September 26, 2018. Walter was born in Battle Creek on January 22, 1936 to parents Walter and Eva (Poirier) Cole. Walter graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1955 and worked as a Switchman for Grand Trunk Railway for 42 years.

Walter enjoyed fishing and nature walks at Stuarts Landing in Marshall, MI. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Walter is survived by his three daughters; Patricia Ratliff, Shirley (Bobby) Smith, and Nancy Fullerton; four grandchildren, Carmen Davis, Amber Coleman, Tyrus Ratliff, and Steven Cole II and seven great-grandchildren. He is Preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven Cole; brothers, Jack, Lewis, Thomas, and Robert, and his sister Marjorie.

A private interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral and Cremation Care. Personal messages can be placed at
